This is an absolutely exceptional example of a natural star sapphire. I believe I have only seen one other natural, untreated, substantial cabochon star sapphire in my entire career. Most common are the blue (as well as other treated colors) Lindy Star Sapphires which were created in the Laboratories of Dow Corning starting in the 1950's.
But mined from the earth? Asterism (the star effect) is a phenomena (something that is wondrous and rare) that is displayed in natural sapphire corundum from the silk-like Rutile in the host gem. This is a wonderful bluish-grey opalescent phenomenal example of nature at it's best.
This ring in it's totality is in outstanding condition with only minor hairline blemishes from normal wear (someone took very good care of this ring). This Gemstone is surrounded by 2 rows of 8 (16 total) (approximately 0.40 carats total diamond weight) of very high grade diamonds. The Sapphire measures approximately 8.8 x 7.0 mm. The setting is 14 karat white gold.
This is a exceptionally rare ring that would make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. The item "Vintage Very Rare Estate Natural Star Sapphire Ring" is in sale since Wednesday, April 17, 2019. This item is in the category "Jewelry & Watches\Fine Jewelry\Fine Rings\Gemstone".
