I have been a net collector of vintage watches over the years and now I've reached to point where I would like others to enjoy my watches/accessories or finish off projects I don't have time for. Description: Rare Designer Naoki Sakai crafted Seiko Asterisk SCLY001 7T59-6A20 1/100 Second Quartz Chronograph; Original Bracelet with Sapphire Crystal.

Condition: Pre-owned; Very Good Condition. Excuding crown; 40mm lug-lug; 17/7mm custom lug bracelet. Accessories: Original AB68B-I custom bracelet; No box/paper/tags. It dates to May 1992 based on the caseback serial. Seiko's 7T59 movement was released in 1991 as the worlds most complicated and first consumer grade 1/100 second chronograph.

7T59 is a special movement with day, date, 1/100 sec chronograph; it also includes an independently adjustable hour hand via the 4 o'clock crown for full GMT function; 24h time is featured in the 9 o'clock subdial. The movement is best known in the export "The Masterpiece" series which proudly showcased Seiko's prowness in quartz watch production. Within Japan, the Seiko Asterisk SCLY00 is one of the few watches that featured this movement. The watch was designed by Naoki Sakai; if you Google "Leading Edge Design Japan Seiko Asterisk", this design house notes that the reliable functional appearance of the watches were inspired by speedometers of high-performance motorcycles and sports cars favored by young Japanese executives. The stock crystal is sapphire; it's scratch/chip free.

Beatiful metallic deep navy blue-black dial and contrasting white hands in excellent shape with no significant aging. Case and caseback remain in very good shape a few light scratches.

All functions work including quickset (English) day and date and all the chrono markers properly reset to zero. Rectangular metal chrono pushers press in reliably with minimal stickiness. Watch is keeping good time and battery changed with the last 2 months. This series has notoriously short bracelets since it was Japanese Domestic Manufacture; fortunately this is comfortable on my 7.5 inch wrist and incorporates an interesting sliding clasp; there are no extra links; please check your wrist size. Would also work great with the ladies given the size.

Most importantly, the 1/100 seconds subdial spins devilishly fast and resets properly; the hands slightly left of zero but within factory spec. This was one of the pinnacles of quartz chronograph development - The World's First 1/100 Chronograph caliber (and priced at 90,000 Yen) with cutting edge design from N.
